The KV-2 was a Soviet heavy tank and assault cannon manufactured in 1940-1941 as the second variant of the KV series.

In 1939, when it was introduced into the armament of the KV-1, an instruction was issued to develop a tank that could destroy the enemy's fortified points. This is how the KV-2 was created. It had the same chassis and hull as the KV-1, but received a box-shaped rotating tower, in which was mounted 152mm howitzer M-10T (tank mount howitzer M-10). In the KV-2 tank consisted of auxiliary equipment three 7.62 mm DT machine guns. He did not suffer from a lack of firepower, but the tall turret meant considerable overload of the chassis and a tall silhouette. This tank had other disadvantages, in addition to high silhouette and weight, also insufficient engine power (only 500 hp, ie 375 kW), which exacerbated the low mobility and speed inherited from the KV-1.

However, KV-2 tanks in significant numbers did not intervene in the fight against the Germans.

KV4 2 tanks were produced 334 pieces, which is - compared to other Soviet tanks - a very small number. All were produced in the years 1940-1941 and after the relocation of most tank operations to the Urals, its production was terminated. The machine was planned as a support infantry tank for the destruction of fulcrums of enemy defenses. In the defensive war that Hitler forced on the Soviet Union by a surprise invasion on June 22, 1941, these slow and clumsy machines, suffering from a number of failures, were often abandoned by their crews. They became easy prey for the advancing Germans, who repaired them and used them against the former owners.

KV-1 were first used in 1939 in the fighting in the winter war with Finland, but it turned out that the existing 76.2 mm cannon is insufficient to destroy reinforced concrete fortresses. Therefore, it was decided in December that a more powerful cannon would be installed. In 1940, new tanks were sent to Finland, where they did not intervene in the fighting, but in training shootings at Finnish forts were successful. / p>

When the USSR was attacked by Nazi Germany on June 22, 1941, it turned out that both KV-1 and KV-2 tanks were unsuitable for maneuver warfare, and almost all of them were lost very easily and quickly due to lack of fuel or frequent failures. However, if they were functional, they were able to hold back the enemy's progress in defensive combat. For the Germans, their appearance in combat was a shock, because apart from the anti-aircraft "eighty-eight", they had nothing to break through the armor of these tanks.

One case was recorded in which the only and in addition immovable machine KV-2 (or KV-1) in Lithuania near the village of Raisinaie held from 23 to 25 June 1941 the entire combat group "Raus", belonging to the 6th Armored Division, in chess and he caused her heavy losses of people, equipment and supplies.

    Prototype KV-2

Adolf Hitler later stated in an interview with Finnish Marshal Mannerheim that if he knew before his invasion of Russia how many quality tanks and in what number the USSR had, he would never attack.

Most KV-2 tanks that fought at the beginning of the war with Germany were not destroyed but abandoned because they ran out of fuel, fell victim to a jam, or failed. The Germans rescued, repaired and began using a number of these machines under the loot designation Panzerkampfwagen KV-II 754 (r). One of these mobile tanks was used by German propaganda in the exhibition Soviet Paradise and was also exhibited in Prague. The remaining pieces were used by the Red Army practically until the end of the Great Patriotic War.

True to detail in 1:16 scale

Weighing around seven kilograms, the KV-2 754 (r) is ideal for the discerning customer. In the professional edition, it is characterized by excellent airbrush color quality, 2.4 GHz printed circuit board technology and a new speaker. This model has excellent driving characteristics, a wide range of functions and a realistic sound. High quality belts, drive and guide wheels with rollers, as well as the lower part of the fuselage and the turret are made of metal. Many small parts and various stickers perfectly complete the replica of the faithful scale.

    Controls and functions

The powerful tank model has 2.4 GHz RC control. The vehicle is equipped with an IR battle system, so battles with vehicles from the same series are possible. Engines with optimized torque give the KV-2 754 (r) a precise and smooth ride. Metal gears with robust gears and improved transmission ensure greater performance. Thanks to the proportional control, you can approach the tank very slowly and gradually increase your speed. The KV-2 754 (r) moves forward and backward, also turning left and right. It can also be turned left or right on the spot. You can raise and lower the cannon and rotate the turret 320 degrees. The realistic experience is completed by various engine sounds, barrel recoil, barrel flash and exhaust smoke.
