Template information
The dory is an iconic fishing boat that has become an integral part of the maritime history of the East Coast of North America. Its origins date back to the 19th century, following in the tradition of the French bateaux brought by the first settlers. Due to their simple construction, low cost and exceptional durability on the open sea, dories have become indispensable in fishing for fish and lobsters.
A characteristic feature of these boats was their stackability – the dories could be placed inside each other, which allowed fishing schooners to carry up to eight boats at a time on both sides of the deck. Removable benches (called thwarts) facilitated this practical solution while preserving internal space for crew and equipment.

Shipways models
Model Shipways' non-floating ship model kits are among the best you can find in the field of historical ship modeling. This American brand has a long tradition dating back to 1946 and is known for its emphasis on historical accuracy, quality materials and precise workmanship.
The models are designed as faithful replicas of real ships, both warships and merchant ships, from the 17th to the 19th century. The kits contain laser-cut parts made of high-quality wood, brass and metal accessories, handmade pulleys, anchors, detailed decoration, etc., depending on the type of ship. The kits are suitable for modelers who are looking for a challenge, authenticity and the joy of precise handwork. They include building materials and documentation. Building a model requires patience, manual dexterity and a certain level of experience working with wood, glues, varnishes and paints.

Construction difficulty 1
These are building kits for beginning ship modelers, which are usually equipped with finished hull parts and a minimum of components. Although this is a model for beginning modelers, it is necessary to keep in mind that a certain manual skill of the builder and the ability to solve construction problems are assumed. The instructions determine the construction procedure, but cannot include the technology of material processing, the method of gluing, painting, sanding or varnishing. These are classic model making procedures that everyone performs according to their own capabilities and habits.
The model does not have an abundance of details, it is simpler, therefore significantly less laborious and time-consuming. Thanks to the simpler construction process, it should be assembled by an averagely skilled modeler or children in model-making clubs.
We recommend buying
We recommend purchasing tools, glue and paints for construction.

Modeling tools and mat
To build ship models, you need the right tools. We recommend the excellent Modelcraft set of tools for ship modelers (set of 12) or the Modelcraft set of tools for modelers (set of 18). We also recommend purchasing nylon clamps and the indispensable model pins. We recommend a modeler's mat for trimming, precise cutting, gluing parts and also as a table protector.

Glue and paints
For gluing we recommend universal dispersion glue and Robitronic instant glue medium 20ml. For painting we recommend acrylic enamel paints. Apply paints with quality brushes (flat brushes for surfaces, round brushes for details).
