The model is a kit from the "First Step" series from Amati for beginning modelers. The kit contains carved wooden parts, metal parts, a stand and instructions.

There are not many current records of the Nina and Pinta. In addition to some hidden links in the records of Christopher Columbus, Italian Cristoforo Colombo. However, it is known that both belonged to the Pinzon family and were initially equipped with latex sails. During the first stop in the Canary Islands, they were replaced by Latin square sails in Pinta. This, together with the replacement of the mast, postponed the trip by 4 weeks. Columbus always referred to Nina and Pinta as "Caravels". Then, on October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus, in the service of Spain, hoisted the Spanish flag on an island that is no longer unknown to Europe.
