In 1845, the ships Terror and Erebus, under the command of Sir John A. Franklin, set out on an expedition to navigate the famous Northwest Passage. They were the first ships to be equipped with auxiliary steam engines and were reinforced with iron armor on the bow and stern to increase their resistance to ice fields. They were stocked with enough provisions for three years at sea. The last sighting of both ships took place off Greenland as they entered Baffin Bay, the gateway to the frozen Arctic labyrinth. Thanks to the cooperation of an Inuit hunter from the Arctic settlement of Gjoa Haven, the wreck of HMS Terror was finally discovered on September 26, 2016, 168 years after its disappearance. The ship was in excellent condition. Photographs of its deck and interior were taken, showing perfectly preserved objects and parts of the ship that remained intact. The mystery of Franklin's tragic expedition remains to this day, but archaeological research into the wreckage could help shed light on what really happened.

To build ship models, you need the right tools. We recommend the excellent Modelcraft set of tools for ship modelers (set of 12) or the Modelcraft set of tools for modelers (set of 18). We also recommend purchasing nylon clamps and the indispensable model pins. We recommend a modeler's mat for trimming, precise cutting, gluing parts and also as a table protector.
For gluing, we recommend universal dispersion glue and Robitronic instant glue medium 20ml. For painting, we recommend acrylic enamel paints. Apply paints with quality brushes (flat brushes for surfaces, round brushes for details).
