Characteristics
Kit of the non-floating model of the ship Mantua Model Caesar in a scale of 1:300 and a length of 620 mm. A Roman warship from the first century BC with two rows of oars. The kit includes wooden parts, metal castings of decorations and detailed building plans.
Birema, circa 120 BC. The first ships of this time, used by the Romans as warships and merchant ships, were supposed to be powered by two sails. Although this type of oar-powered vessel was relatively fast, it easily capsized with too large a sail. The model gives an interesting insight into the art of shipbuilding at that time.
The Mantua kit includes plywood hull construction, building plans with general details in English, battens, wooden masts and spars, brass and walnut hardware, etched brass details, rig lines and a silk flag. All sheet metal parts are precisely laser cut. The model is not too complicated, even less experienced modelers should be able to handle it.
Cover with a photo of the finished model
The stylish box with a photo of the finished model is tastefully and graphically designed and contains the name and scale of the model.
What you will find in the package
After opening the lid of the box, you will find wooden parts of the plywood model, moldings, small parts in plastic bags and a manual.
Assembly instructions
The set contains complete pictorial documentation with the construction process, the individual steps are carefully displayed. The parts in the building plan are numbered.
Construction difficulty
Intermediate kits are suitable for builders who have already built a simpler model for beginners and have basic modeling experience. Models of this difficulty are more elaborate, contain more details, and construction is more time-consuming.
The Italian manufacturer Mantua Model has been an important manufacturer of ship models for decades. With its large and richly equipped kits of historic ship models such as Sovereign of the Seas, San Felipe or Royal Caroline, Mantua Model set high standards and was the first to introduce laser cutting technology to the model industry. Well-known Italian designers designed for Mantua Model an assortment of well-known and classic models that have become an indispensable part of the modeling world.
We recommend to buy
For construction, we recommend buying tools, glue and paints.
Modeling tools and mat
Building model ships requires the right tools. We recommend an excellent set of Modelcraft tools for ship modelers (set of 12 pieces), or Modelcraft tools for modelers (set of 18 pieces). We also recommend the purchase of nylon clamps and indispensable modeling pins. We recommend a modeling mat for editing, precise cutting, gluing parts and also as table protection.
Glue and paint
For gluing, we recommend universal dispersion glue and Robitronic instant glue medium 20ml. We recommend acrylic enamel paints for coloring. Apply colors with quality brushes (flat brushes for surfaces, round brushes for details).
