Characteristics
Model kit of the Le Cerf war cutter from 1779 in 1: 7 scale. The length of the ship model is 685 mm, the building is mostly made of wood with small accessories, it includes a construction plan and instructions with many detailed pictures.
The LE CERF cutter was built according to the plans of the well-known French designer Denys. LE CERF was launched on March 2, 1779 in Saint-Malo. Lieutenant Varages was appointed commander of the ship. The ship was armed with eighteen six-pounder cannons. The ship sailed from 155 to 194 people (officers, sailors, artillery and marines). During the American War of Independence, the ship took part in several battles with the British. The first clash took place on the night of June 21-22, 1779, southwest of the island of Yeu, when LE CERF fought two British cutters with 14 and 16 guns. During the battle, the ship's bow was severely damaged and 17 men were eliminated from the action.
Later, after the repair, the ship was included in the fleet of the famous captain of the United States JP Jones, commander of the ship BONHOMME RICHARD, until 27 August 1779, with which she participated in operations near the Irish coast. The last battle in which LE CERF took part took place on February 9, 1780 near the Azores. LE CERF faced a 24-gun privateer. During the battle, LE CERF was severely damaged and, as a result of the damage, was recently retired from service. / p>
Czech company Dusek Ship Kits
is a traditional manufacturer of model kits for non-floating models of historic ships. The range of products is very wide, the offer includes ships from the period before our era to sailboats from the last century. However, the domain is historic wooden ships of the golden age of sailboats, such as merchant, war or royal English, Spanish galleys, schooners, ships of famous discoverers or Viking and for us exotic East Asian ships.
Anyone who longs for their own self-made boat must be prepared to do so for weeks or months in the evenings. It means having a certain skill and knowledge of the lever with various materials, adhesives, paints and varnishes. The kit mainly contains basic building materials, building materials and a number of small or miniature components and decorations. However, this work will give you an insight into the secrets of ship construction, the history of real ships and often can lead to a community of people obsessed with the same passion for ship modeling.
