Kit of a non-floating model MAMOLI Rattlesnake in 1:64 scale from 1779. The ship was made in Plymouth, Massachusetts and was richly equipped with up to 20 cannons, the crew consisted of 85 men. The ship was fast, with a slender hull with a pointed bow. The package includes wooden parts, moldings and a number of fittings, rigging, plans, etc.
The original USS Rattlesnake was commissioned by the newly formed United States Congress to help fight the ongoing war by detaining British ships. Later, in 1781, she was captured by the British frigate Assurance (44 guns) and accepted into the Royal Navy as Commorant (14 guns). Sometime around 1784, it was renamed Rattlesnake after the British discovered that they already had a ship called the Commorant, and soon after it was sold. The vessel was unusually fast, and its hull line was copied by the British Admiralty.
The model is in scale 1:64, length 697 mm, height 463 mm. Today, the kit is manufactured using modern laser technology, which ensures high precision in the assembly of components. Double formwork is standard. Many fittings made of cast metal or wood. Boat models from Mamoli have been popular for many years. A wide range of different types of models and classic materials characterize this series.
