Model of the HMS Endeavor ship, from the Mini Mamoli series, in a scale of 1: 143. James Cook, a famous explorer from the Pacific, was born in 1728 as the son of a peasant. He first gained several years of experience with transport ships, then in 1775 he was in the service of the Royal British Navy, where he was promoted in a short time to the rank of "Master". The Endeavor ship was chosen for its solid construction for a trip on a military and scientific expedition to the South Pacific. Shipbuilders had to make a number of changes to the ship so that they could have a group of astronomers and scientists on board. They sailed from Plymouth to Cape Horn until they reached their intended destination in Tahiti in April 1769. After completing scientific research, Cook continued on to New Zealand, where he remained until the end of March 1770 and mapped approximately 2,400 miles of coastline.
