Characteristics
Mantua Model Vasa 1:60 scale non-floating mock-up kit from 1626. The ship of the Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus II, which was supposed to ensure supremacy in the Baltic Sea, is one of the most famous ships, due to its tragic sinking during the first voyage. Wood parts, moldings, fittings, rigging, plans, etc.
The Vasa was built in 1626-1628 by the Dutch shipbuilder Henrik Hybertsson for the Swedish king Gustav Adolf II. The aim was to secure supremacy in the Baltic Sea. The ship had a displacement of 1400 tons and a huge area of 1150 square meters, length 62m and height 50m. raised between 1959 and 1961. The tall ornate superstructure with two gun decks and an unusually high number of guns reduced the ship's stability. The Vasa set sail on her maiden voyage on 10 August 1628. She fired one ceremonial salvo and as she was leaving port was hit by successive gusts of wind, heeling so that water entered her through the open gun ports and the Vasa sank. The ship sailed approximately 1,500 meters and at least 30 crew members perished on board. Vasa was discovered in 1956 by private explorer Anders Franzén and the ship was recovered. Today, the Vasa is in port in Stockholm.
An extensive kit of a large non-floating model of a historic ship for demanding modelers. The beautiful and large ship Vasa in 1:60 scale from 1768 has a length of 1180mm, so it can be processed in great detail. In the plastic blister, you will find a huge number of mock-up wooden and metal elements, a hardware set with the largest number of carefully made and gold-plated castings, processed to the smallest detail, which you will directly use during construction. A number of 1:1 scale drawings allow you to compare manufactured parts with drawings and thus achieve high accuracy. The model is very laborious and therefore not intended for beginners.
Cover with a photo of the finished model
The stylish box with a photo of the finished model is carefully, tastefully and qualitatively graphically designed and contains the name, technical data and scale of the model.
What you will find in the package
After opening the lid of the box, you will find wooden parts of the plywood model, a set of moldings, small parts sealed in bags, a set of drawings and a manual.
Set of drawings
The set contains a complete set of drawing documentation of the model in a 1:1 scale with images of individual details. The drawing shows to scale the assembly assemblies, their completion, including masts and booms and the method of tying the rigging. The multilingual construction process provides a framework for the logical assembly of individual components.
