Explosive Kittens are a strategic version of Russian Roulette (only with kittens). Players draw cards until someone draws an explosive kitten, explodes, dies, and is out of the game. But that's only if he doesn't have the "defuse" card, which allows him to defuse an explosive kitten, for example by using a laser pointer, a belly scratch or a cat sandwich. The role of all the other cards in the deck is to help players protect themselves from explosive kittens (or put them in the way of others).

The game was created by Elan Lee (XBOX, ARGs), Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal) and Shane Small (XBOX, Marvel), who rewrote Kickstarter history when more than 219,000 backers contributed to their project in 2015. By 2023, more than 25 million copies of Explosive Kittens had been sold worldwide.
