This successor to Fordu Thunderbird appeared in April 1964. He awoke a real storm of enthusiasm. No other car has ever had such a huge success as this car: during the first year, Ford produced an amazing 680,000 units. In particular, younger drivers fell into the car: an economical, relatively compact car with an attractive design and a large and, above all, powerful engine. The first "641" series, which was produced by September 1964, was followed by a slightly modified version with a more powerful engine. Since 1965, the coupe version, called the "fastback", has also been available.
