The European versions of the 400 EXC and 450 EXC have a small headlight, speedometer, taillight and somewhat softer rear suspension without a clutch (PDS).

In keeping with the "evolution instead of revolution" motto, drivability for 2009 could be enhanced by a reduction in engine weight and a new ignition curve.
