Information about the original:

The Northrop F-5 was developed in the 1960s based on the requirements of a number of NATO countries that needed a simple, inexpensive and easy-to-maintain multi-role fighter aircraft. His airframe later served as inspiration for the development of the F-5E Tiger II aircraft in the early 1970s. This was equipped with two new J85-GE-21 jet engines with much higher power and thrust than the previous version and featured a longer and enlarged fuselage. Better flight characteristics resulting from the new aerodynamic layout, greater operational range and upgraded avionics allowed the Tiger II to be used successfully by many air forces. The basic armament consisted of two 20 mm cannons installed in the bow under the cabin, which could be supplemented by a wide arsenal of air-to-air missiles. However, in addition to its primary role as a fighter aircraft, the Tiger still retained extensive ground attack capabilities.
