Original and model information:
The North American F-86 Saber, which made full use of captured German aerodynamic research materials, is one of the most important aircraft of the early era of jet aircraft. It boasted a distinctive 35 ° wing wing, six 12.7 mm machine guns located in the bow, as well as a number of design philosophies based on its famous predecessor with a piston engine. The Saber, a true aviation classic, entered service with the US Air Force in 1949 and at the time was the fastest fighter aircraft in the world.
One of the most important aircraft of the early era of the North American F-86 Saber was in many respects the jet version of the very successful P-51D Mustang aircraft from World War II, while its development also took full advantage of captured German materials from aerodynamic research. It had a characteristic arrow wing with a slope of 35 degrees and also three machine guns caliber 12.7 mm on both sides of the bow. At the same time, this jet fighter shared many design features with its famous piston engine predecessor. By the time he joined the US Air Force in 1949, the North American F-86 Saber could boast not only of becoming the first American fighter with an arrow wing, but also the fastest fighter in the world of its time, so it is a real aviation classic.
The later development phase of the classic Saber, a variant of the F-86F-40, was the most sophisticated daily fighter version of this famous aircraft, as it received a number of improvements that kept this machine at the forefront of world fighter technology. With a new engine that gave the aircraft more power, this variant reintroduced slots on the leading edge of the wing increased in inches by "6-3", which increased the aircraft's ability in air combat and at the same time reduced the speed of the aircraft to land at a much more manageable 200 km / h . These modifications proved to be so successful that many earlier variants of the Saber were additionally modernized to also get these new elements.
During the Korean War, Saber achieved an impressive 10: 1 win-to-loss ratio and helped 40 American pilots gain prestigious airline status during the conflict.
