Original information:
Hawk T Mk 1 was developed by Hawker Siddeley, now part of BAE Systems, to equip Royal Air Force training units in the second half of the 1970s. A specific requirement of the Royal Air Force was to have a new updated jet trainer to replace the old Folland Gnat. The advanced Hawk trainer was characterized by excellent maneuverability and, thanks to his Rolls-Royce Adour turbofan engine, was able to reach a maximum speed of Mach 0.84. The Hawk T1A, developed on the basis of the original Hawk T1 project, was to replace the Hawker Hunter in the Royal Air Force's tactical weapons units. In fact, the original aircraft was modified by adopting the central axis of the Aden 30 mm. cannon pod and with the ability to carry air-to-air missiles AIM-9L Sidewinder. Thanks to its good performance and operating costs, the Hawk has been used by several air forces around the world. The modified Hawk T1A is still used by the Royal Air Force "Red Arrows" aerobatic team.
