Original Information:
The JSF Joint Strike Fighter program was a development project designed to create a new, 5th generation all-weather combat aircraft to replace existing US and NATO offensive aircraft. Lockheed Martin led the F-35 Lightning II. This aircraft uses "invisible" stealth technology, typical for trapezoidal wings and the use of the most advanced systems, materials and avionics. It has been developed in different configurations designed for different roles, whether it be gaining air superiority, providing near air support or attacking ground targets. The F-35B with STOVL capability (Short Take Off and Vertical Landing) was created specifically for deployment on modern aircraft carriers such as the British HMS Queen Elizabeth or Cavour, the flagship of the Italian Navy. The United States Marine Corps plans to deploy it on assault missions as ground support. The STOVL version is powered by a Pratt & Whitney dual-jet engine with afterburner and swivel nozzles that can direct the draft direction. With operational flexibility, advanced onboard technologies, innovative solutions and performance characteristics, the F-35 Lightning II has become an important milestone in the 21st century military aviation world.
