SK-37 Viggen Trainer
The SAAB 37 Viggen is an aircraft that was ahead of its time. The unorthodox solutions chosen by its designers not only enabled the Viggen to meet the requirements placed on it, but to surpass them in some parameters. The Swedish Air Force ordered the Viggen in several versions, with the basic design of the aircraft forming a universal platform which, supplemented with special equipment, allowed it to be used in several roles.
The first of the seven built prototypes took off on February 8, 1967, piloted by E. Dalsröm. The electronic equipment was one of the best in the world in its time, the Viggen was the first machine with a built-in computer with integrated circuits. The AJ 37 Viggen version was the first to be included in the armament of the Swedish Air Force, which was gradually followed by the SK 37 version - a two-seat training fighter aircraft, the SF 37 - a reconnaissance version with photographic devices in a modified bow, the SH-37 - an anti-ship version with different electronic equipment and anti-ship armament . About ten years after the first version, the second generation Viggen was produced, the fighter version JA 37. It received modernized electronic equipment and a more powerful engine in a slightly extended hull. Even older versions received more modern electronic equipment, the conversion resulted in AJS 37 machines, possibly ASFS and ASHS 37. Part of the two-seater training machines was converted to the SK-37E electronic warfare control and training version.
The model of the training version is divided into eleven frames, it contains etchings for the exterior and interior of this version. Decals and instructions allow you to choose between three different machines. They map all three color variants that training Viggens wore. In the model, you will find the machine in the color of metal, classic broken camouflage composed of several colors and in two-color, gray-gray camouflage.
