Bugatti 100 Racer 1/48
Before World War II, Ettore Bugatti decided to build a racing airplane that would win the then-popular Deutsch de la Meurthe race. During the design work, the initially single-engine project was reworked and the Bugatti 100 ended up carrying two engines in the fuselage asymmetrically placed behind each other and driving counter-rotating propellers. He was being prepared to break the world speed record. The plane was ready to fly on the eve of World War II. He was hidden after the German invasion of France. It is now on display at the EAA Aviation Museum in the US.
The two frames of plastic parts are complemented by an injection-molded cabin, resin parts, etchings of tie-down belts and a decal on the dashboard. The instructions offer two colorings, one of them fictitious.
- as a plastic model has not yet been produced
- interesting unorthodox construction
