Flight Safety is based on state-of-the-art FlightAutonomy 2.0 and Visual Inertial Odometry VIO:
- FlightAutonomy 2.0 The powerful FlightAutonomy 2.0 Sensor System uses advanced VIO technology, including a primary stabilized curtain camera, front, rear and bottom dual image sensors, a low infrared barrier sensing system, a redundant IMU, and a set of computer cores. Together, they collect environmental information and transmit them to a high-performance computing unit for processing to evaluate accurate visibility and optimum flight characteristics. The Advanced Aircraft Assist Systems (APAS) of the airplane enable you to actively overcome obstacles before and behind. Discovering spectacular adventures has never been so easy and safe.
- Visual inertial odometry (VIO) The combination of VIO technology and new positioning algorithms has doubled the accuracy of Mavica Air positioning. Real-time VIO technology evaluates the speed and height of the airplane and positions it, a pair of cameras measure the airplane height at a dream or flight at any speed. The working range of the visually positioning system is now 0.5 to 30 meters. With VIO technology, Mavic Air is able to hang more accurately inside buildings and better respond to complex environments with gentle movements of control levers.
- Creating a 3d map Thanks to the advanced system for the perception of the environment, Mavic Air can be oriented with high accuracy and precision. Processing information from the seven cameras at the front, rear and bottom of the airplane together with advanced infrared sensors and IMU creates a 3D map of perceived surroundings in real time, which significantly increases overall flight safety.
- Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) APAS is the result of intensive flight research conducted by DJI." Users can continue the flight forward or backward and APAS schedules a suitable flight path so that Mavic Air automatically encircles the obstacle.
- Redundant systems In addition to the IMU, FlightAutonomy 2.0 is equipped with additional redundant systems to increase Mavica Air's security level. The visual compass assists the navigation system to estimate the direction of flight when the compass itself is compromised. The aircraft is capable of successful positioning even if only one direction of the front, rear or bottom visual systems works correctly. Two sets of algorithms connect the sensors of two independent hardware platforms. When an error occurs in one set of algorithms, the airplane continuously moves to the second pair and restores undisturbed traffic.
- Reliable Return Home (RTH) Expansion of the existing RTH system will ensure the safest flight route for Mavic Air at RTH. This is achieved by real-time recording of the flight path, when the signal is lost, the airplane is guided back home and at the same time it avoids any obstacles that interfere with the transmission, then restores the connection with the driver. When Mavic Air detects an obstacle, it evaluates the appropriate altitude path depending on the height of the flight. The airplane compares the images of the surface below with those taken at the start to increase the accuracy of the landing. With Mavic Air automatic landing, it scans real-time landing at the landing site, alerts the user when it detects an obstacle or water at the landing site.
