Quidditch, originally Quidditch, is a wizarding sport from the Harry Potter books by JK Rowling. It is played on flying brooms. Each team has seven players: 3 shooters, 2 rebounders, 1 goalie and 1 catcher.
It is played with four balls: two balls (black, made of iron, 10 inches in diameter, like cannonballs, trying to knock as many players off the brooms as possible), a camrál (as big as a soccer ball = 12 inches in diameter, red) and a snitch ( large as a walnut, golden, with wings).
The shooters shoot with a camrál into metal hoops (there are three on each side of the field guarded by a goalkeeper), the team gets 10 points for each goal scored. Deflectors use their sticks to bounce off pucks from their teammates and try to drive them against the opponent. The goalie defends his team's hoop. The catcher tries to find the little snitch. If he catches it, the match ends and his team gets 150 points (so they usually win). The match is not over until the snitch is caught. It may take several months.
And it was this snitch after a long struggle that the famous Harry Potter caught and thus won the important Quidditch.
