In the era of firearms, the infantry was referred to as the "queen of the battlefield". For the Russian infantry, such an indication was indeed the most convenient of all. Its size in terms of soldiers and toughness in combat enabled the Russian army to repel the attacks of German troops, even though they had better armaments and equipment, and to defeat units of German allies - Austria, Hungary and Turkey. However, the Russian infantry was also sent as military assistance to the Trojdohodě, which also fought in France and Greece.
