    The Volkssturm was created in Germany in September 1944. After the complete mobilization of the population, all men from 16 to 60 years of age who no longer served in some military units were included. These formations were armed with various small arms and anti-tank weapons. During the defense of the German cities, they caused considerable damage to the advancing Red Army and Allied forces.
