The Age of Dinosaurs: an era that continues to fascinate us as we make further discoveries and gain a deeper
understanding of what happened hundreds of millions of years ago.
Fukuisaurus is a herbivorous dinosaur thought to have lived around 120 million years ago in the Early Cretaceous Period. The fossilized
remains were discovered in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture, Japan, an area renowned for its fossil finds. It was the first dinosaur in Japan to have its skeleton completely reconstructed, and in 2003 it was given the specific name
Fukuisaurus tetoriensis: the first part of the name means “Fukui lizard“ and the second refers to the Tetori Group, in whose Kitadani Formation the fossilized remains were found. Fukuisaurus is believed to have grown to a length of 5.2 meters and was able to walk on both two and four legs as needed. It used its beak-like mouth to pluck leaves from plants and chew them with its back teeth. Based on scientific research, this is a scale model with realistic depictions of shape, posture and even skin texture, based on evidence gathered through research conducted by renowned academic institutions and brought to life. In collaboration with Dinosaur Institute, Ltd. Design consultant: Kazunari Araki Supervised by Takuya Imai, associate professor at Fukui Prefectural University and researcher at the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum. No glue required – Clic Loc series!
The Clic Loc series models, which faithfully capture the shape of their models but are characterized by a simple assembly method in which the parts simply
snap into each other, achieve excellent workmanship thanks to the small number of parts.
What color was Fukuisaurus?
Unfortunately, there is no evidence of its color in the fossil record, but we can draw inspiration from its distant relatives today
and there are plenty of ideas in printed and electronic reference materials. Also think about the environment in which it lived! We recommend Tamiya Color paints.
