On December 16, 2017, Chevrolet revealed the all-new fourth generation 2019 Silverado 1500. The model shown at the unveiling was the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss, which is a factory modified version of the Silverado 1500 LT Z71. Distinguishing features of the Trail Boss from other Silverado 1500 trim levels are its gloss black front fascia, black rear bumper, black Chevrolet "bow tie" emblems on the front grille and tailgate, gloss black aluminum alloy wheels, large off-road tires, modified suspension, "Trail Boss" decals on the sides of the pickup box, center fog lights on the front bumper, "Z71" emblems on each front fender, and red-painted front tow hooks.
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 offer a choice of six different engines depending on the trim level. The base engine in lower trim levels is a 285 PS (213 kW; 289 PS) 4.3 liter EcoTec3 FlexFuel-Capable V6 petrol engine. An all-new 2.7-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine with 310 PS (231 kW; 314 hp) is standard on the mid-level. Most trim levels feature a 355 PS (265 kW; 360 PS) 5.3-litre EcoTec3 V8 petrol engine. Higher trim levels feature a 420 PS (313 kW; 426 PS) 6.2-litre EcoTec3 V8 petrol engine. All-new 277 PS (207 kW; 281 hp) 3.0 liter turbocharged. A Duramax I6 engine was available for the 2020 model year. Availability of this engine was delayed due to EPA certification. All engines are paired with either a 6-speed, 8-speed or 10-speed automatic transmission, with a choice of two- or four-wheel drive.
