In 1964 the E-Type received several important upgrades including a 4.2 liter version of the famous XK engine, the newer model produced 255bhp at 5400rpm up from 5500. The cooling system was redesigned to keep the overall engine size. The exterior of the 4.2 features single-sided cast exhaust pipes. Other upgrades include a new alternator/generator and an electric cooling fan for the radiator. The interior also redid the seats and removed aluminum panels in the center console, radio, alternate gear ratios, chrome wires, tinted glass and whitewall tires.
