The Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera RSR was built in 1974 in four examples for participation in the constructors' championship season. It was thus possible to watch the factory team in action with one and sometimes two cars in the colors of Martini Racing, entrusted to the hands of the official crews Muller - van Lennep and Koinigg - Schurti. Although the Porsche cars had almost the same power (around 500 hp) as competing machines from the Prototype category, they fell short of their lightness and handling. However, the lucky combination of speed and reliability allowed the Porsches to achieve decent results in nine races of the season, including two second places: one at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and one at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen.
