The famous German automobile manufacturer began production of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL in 1954 and was a real masterpiece on four wheels in terms of design, elegance and luxury. SL in its name stands for Sport Leicht (sport + light). This model has received a number of innovative solutions for its time. The two-door coupe was built on a tubular frame and its rear axle was powered by a 2,996 liter 4-speed gearbox, longitudinally mounted engine. Thanks to it was able to drive at a maximum speed of 260 km / h. The real advantage of this machine, however, was its innovative design, headed by a characteristic door solution in the form of seagull wings. Even today, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is regarded as an icon of design and style of its time and a real treat for collectors and car enthusiasts.
