The second generation of the Ford Escort was launched in 1975. Compared with the first generation, which first saw the light of the world in January 1968 at the Motor Show in Brussels, it was a significant leap forward. The new model has used the same reliable mechanical components as its predecessor, but has got a new look with more square shapes that better suits the aesthetic and stylistic demands of the 1970s. In addition to a more classic version, Escort Sport was also released, which was well-known for its more aggressive appearance and distinctive sports interior. In order for the Escort to compete successfully in the rally world championship, the RS 1800 racing special was introduced, completing the new series. It was thanks to him that Ford achieved excellent results. Between 1975 and 1979 he won the RAC (Royal Automobile Club), the most important rally in the UK, and an important point in the World Championship, for five consecutive years.
