Characteristics

A novelty in 2021 are metal iron-on foils designed for various decorations. The carrier polyester foil has a thin aluminum foil in a given color. An adhesive is then applied to the metal foil, which is activated at an elevated temperature (about 120 ° C). The carrier polyester film peels off when the adhesive is sealed.

The ironing can be done both over the carrier foil and on the side of the substrate (if the substrate is thin, eg paper). A household iron set at approx. 120 ° C can also be used for ironing (we recommend testing it on a sample first).

Workflow

1. Place the foil over the place where you want to apply the foil. You can use eg adhesive tape for fastening.
2. Iron the foil on the base layer with an iron or iron (depending on the size of the surfaces). Alternatively, you can proceed in reverse - iron the base layer into the foil.
3. Then peel off the carrier polyester film. The unironed foil will remain attached to the foil.
4. To increase durability, the surface can be overpainted with glossy varnish.
