The Hampden was undoubtedly one of the most distinctive British aircraft of the Second World War, an impressively agile medium bomber which saw extensive service in the early stages of the war and earned the nickname 'the flying suitcase' due to its narrow 3ft fuselage. It was used in the first RAF raid on Berlin in August 1940.
