During the 1930s, a number of production agreements were concluded, based on which the Canadian branches of major American car companies produced a number of trucks intended for the needs of the British troops and the main Commonwealth countries. During World War II, production increased significantly and "Canadian Military Pattern (CMP)" trucks accompanied Commonwealth troops on major European fronts, from the North African campaign to the invasion of Sicily to the Normandy landings. Robust, reliable and extremely effective in operational deployment, they were produced in many configurations and for various tasks, from military logistics to artillery towing. The CWT 15 version with all-wheel drive and good load capacity was especially appreciated.
