The Hawker Hurricane was the most widespread and used fighter aircraft of the British Royal Air Force at the beginning of World War II. It made a significant contribution to the RAF's final victory during the Battle of Britain, but as the war progressed it was gradually replaced in the role of a front-line fighter by the much more modern Spitfire. However, the role of the Hurricane gradually changed due to the creation of very specific versions and configurations of armament. Hurricane Mk. The IIC, for example, was equipped with four powerful 20mm Hispano-Suiza cannons mounted in the wings with almost 400 rounds. The deployment of 20mm cannons instead of the traditional 7.7mm machine guns gave the Hurricane exceptional effectiveness in ground attack and close support missions. In addition, the Hurricane Mk.
