During the Second World War, the Boeing B-17 was the most well-known heavy-armored strategic bomber, and although a total of 12,677 was built, it was only the most numerous aircraft of its kind. He had the name "Flying Fortress" that he received from an American journalist at the time of his first flight. The Boeing B-17F was the first mass-produced Flying Fortress. The most famous aircraft of this series was the B-17F-10-BO, made by Boeing, which was handed over on July 15, 1942, and served 324 bombers, 91 bombers in Bassingbourn, England. The crew gave him the nickname "Memphis Belle" after a girlfriend Lt. Lt. Robert K. Morgan. His glory came from the fact that he was officially the first US Air Force bomber in Europe to hold 25 missions and become the star of the Hollywood propaganda film. After this mission, Memphos Belle and his crew were recalled back to the US. Later, he was bought by Memphis and set as an outdoor monument. In 2004, the B-17F underwent a complete renovation. Today, Memphis Belle is again open to the public.
