Original and model information:

The North American P-51 Mustang is considered one of the iconic American fighters of World War II. To meet RAF specifications, the Mustang went through British engine replacement and received a more powerful Rolls Royce Merlin as a power unit. Thanks to its long range and excellent firepower, the P-51D model became an excellent escort fighter, which was able to protect the bombers during raids all the way to Berlin and back. The P-51 enlisted as the most successful Allied World War II fighter aircraft with 4,950 enemy aircraft destroyed. After World War II, the P-51D also served in Korea, and some South American air forces used it until the early 1980s.
