Original information:

German tank destroyer Sd.Kfz. 138 Marder III was developed for the needs of the German army on the chassis of the obsolete but affordable Czechoslovak light tank Panzer 38 (t). The modification consisted in the fact that an open anti-tank cannon PaK 40 caliber 75 mm was installed in an open structure protected by a bevelled shield. Marder III Ausf. The H had an engine located in the rear of the vehicle and a weapon system in the middle to ensure greater crew protection. In this configuration, the Wehrmacht had a tank destroyer, which was easy to manufacture and whose firepower was also able to face the main battle tanks of this period. He was put into production in 1942 to take part in the fighting on the Eastern Front, but eventually appeared on all fronts until the end of the war.
