When the mighty German Tiger 1 was commissioned in the fall of 1942, it was the most advanced tank in the world, specially designed to dominate the battlefield. Tiger was able to destroy anything, he had no competition on the side of the Allies, he could react quickly, destroy and kill, without the other side being able to think about firing again. Unfortunately for the Wehrmacht, the amazing potential of the Tiger was never fully realized because it was overly technical, extremely complex and very expensive to manufacture, which meant that there were never enough Tigers on the battlefield. Between 1942 and 1944, only 1,347 Tigers 1 were produced, and although it was undoubtedly one of the best tanks ever built, it could not fight the growing number of Allied military equipment. To illustrate the large number difference, American factories were able to produce more than 49,000 Sherman tanks during World War II.
