Original Information:
The landing craft known as LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel) or Higgins boat was one of the most important parts of the Allied naval equipment in World War II. The Allies showed tremendous service not only during Operation Overlord and the invasion of occupied France, but also in the US naval operations in the Pacific, where it proved particularly in missions in Okinawa and Iwo Jima. Thanks to its low draft and wide bow ramp, this boat was able to unload all cargo and bounce off the shore again in just 3 to 4 minutes.
