When attacking the Luftwaffe fighter pilots on the Bf109 aircraft, they launched operations against Britain after the evacuation of Dunkirk for the first time at a disadvantage. Because of the amount of fuel that gave them only limited time on the British sky, for them any mechanical defect or damage in combat meant at best the capture, inevitably the end of the war.
