Avro Lancaster, the third British heavyweight four-engine bomber who entered the RAF service in World War II, proved to be an extraordinary plane. He had, among other things, a very large bomb bay, thanks to which he took away the biggest bombs that existed. At least thirty-five Lancasters have been able to complete an incredible 100 missions or more. For this reason, the historians and aircraft enthusiasts have liked them to be called Lancaster Centurions, and thus designate an exclusive group of extremely persistent and deserving bombers.
