Characteristics

RC model of the popular J-3 Cub aircraft with a wingspan of 2.1m in 1:5 scale. It is designed to provide the classic look of the original and a comfortable flying experience with modern features. It features the advantages of a lightweight, rigid and strong wooden structure with a combination of balsa and plywood (lite-ply), which is coated with the original UltraCote® film. The wing is two-piece, with a mounting on a tubular reinforcement in the fuselage, for easy transport and storage. The model has a lot of scale details, including transparent windows, wing struts and more. The landing gear includes classic wheels and covers. Optionally, wheel covers or floats can be installed (sold separately). The model is suitable for a wide range of intermediate to experienced pilots!

ARF version - it is necessary to install your own electronics, servos and drive (10-11cc combustion engine or 4S-6S LiPo brushless electric motor).

With nearly 20,000 aircraft built between 1938 and 1947, and over 5,000 still registered and flying, the J-3 Cub remains one of Piper's most iconic and beloved aircraft. Originally designed as a light trainer, it has undergone many modifications, including shortened-wing versions such as the Super Cub and Carbon Cub.

Skill Level 3 – Requires experience

Skill level 2 aircraft like this model are primarily suitable for more experienced RC pilots who already have some experience and skills in building, setting up and flying similar class models. This ARF version requires more experience and skills to build than the PNP version as you will need to select and install the appropriate power system and electronics. You should have the experience and skills required to successfully fly models like the E-flite Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, Turbo Timber SWS 2.0m, Carbon-Z Cessna 150T 2.1m, Carbon-Z Cub SS 2.1m or other models.

Wooden airplane kite

The balsa and plywood (lite-ply) airframe is lightweight, yet stiff and strong. Most parts are factory assembled and finished, including a genuine UltraCote finish. The PNP version also includes durable, factory-installed Spektrum A6380 metal digital servos. In the event that you damage any part of the airframe and are unable to repair it, a full range of spare parts are available.

ARF version

This Almost Ready to Fly (ARF) version comes mostly factory assembled and ready to install a 10-11cc internal combustion engine and other engines of a similar class or equivalent electrical system and electronics of your preference.

Easy assembly

The ARF version has some parts pre-assembled and coated and is ready to install servos, electronics and a propulsion system.

Detailed processing

A large upper canopy with windshield, transparent windows, seats and a pilot bust complete the scale model look, along with wing struts, tailplane cables and other details.

Chassis options

The package includes a chassis with standard wheels, chassis covers, and Cub wheel covers. You can also install optional DU-BRO Treaded Lightweight Cub Wheels (sold separately) or optional round wheel covers (sold separately). Or you can install optional silver floats (sold separately) and custom strut kits (sold separately) for flying on large ponds or lakes.

Wing options

Optional wings (sold separately) with a shorter span of 1.7m are available, offering different handling and improved aerobatic capabilities. You also have the option of applying black "starburst" decals (sold separately) to the wings and tail.
