The JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) program was created to develop a new fifth-generation, all-weather multirole combat aircraft capable of replacing the United States and NATO strike fighters. A team of aircraft designers led by Lockheed Martin has created the single-seat, single-engine F-35 Lightning II. It uses stealth technology and is characterized by trapezoidal wings and the use of the most modern materials and avionics systems. Created in several different configurations, its mission is to gain air superiority, provide close air support, and engage in attack missions against ground targets. The F-35A is a conventional takeoff and landing variant, the F-35B is a short takeoff and vertical landing variant, and the folding-wing F-35C was developed for use aboard aircraft carriers. Due to its operational flexibility, advanced onboard technologies and impressive innovations, this fighter aircraft has been favorably received and deployed by the air forces of many countries.
