SERIOUS DEPARTMENTS (CREATE 1941)
On May 20, 1941, the German paratroopers landed on the island of Crete occupied by the British troops. Operations Mercury, one of the most famous airborne operations of the Second World War, was launched. The task of about 2000 parachutists who landed at 15-minute intervals was to occupy base stations and artillery batteries. Two of the three parachutes in each batch contained boxes of weapons and supplies.
