The package includes ship building parts: plywood parts, Abachi moldings, laser cut wooden parts, 3D printed mockup parts. Picture manual EN.
Kit of the Liman 2 harbor tug boat model in a scale of 1:20 with a length of 1 meter. Ship construction suitable for advanced modellers. The model includes a wooden plywood hull complete with Abachi slats. The wooden parts are precisely and cleanly laser cut. Furthermore, the model contains high-quality parts from resin 3D printing. The main bridge has a fitted interior with a rudder. The kit is designed as a static model, but it can be assembled as a floating model and supplemented with a drive, electronics and RC kit. (Not included in the package).
The model is equipped with effective LED lighting, the location of the individual diodes included in the package is described in the manual. Electronics for switching and batteries are not included.
In 1935, the Istanbul Port Company commissioned the construction of the tug Liman 2. The ship was continuously used as a harbor tug to help larger ships enter and leave the port of Istanbul until 1988. The ship was subsequently bought by the local museum in 1991 and restored. The approximately 20 m long and 50 ton tugboat was powered by a 170 horsepower steam engine. Now occasional cruises are organized with this tugboat.
Ship models for advanced students require previous experience with building models and mastered techniques of individual technological steps, such as gluing, bending, hemming of sails, etc. It is necessary to orientate yourself in the drawing documentation, individual steps and plan the entire procedure. It is necessary to study any details and it is necessary to take into account that the construction requires a certain degree of creativity and independence, because the instructions do not have to deal with the production of every detail.
The models are extensive and detailed, take a long time to complete and require a lot of finishing work on the parts.
For construction, we recommend buying tools, glue and paints.
Building model ships requires the right tools. We recommend an excellent set of Modelcraft tools for ship modelers (set of 12 pieces), or Modelcraft tools for modelers (set of 18 pieces). We also recommend the purchase of nylon clamps and indispensable modeling pins. We recommend a modeling mat for editing, precise cutting, gluing parts and also as table protection.
When building model ships, we can encounter the gluing of various materials, such as wood, plastic, metal, foil, laminate, etc. Each material is glued with specific adhesives. Wood can be glued with Speedbond PVA dispersion glues, but it should not be used in places with more permanent water exposure. Epoxy adhesives are used for that case: Speed Epoxy II 4 min. Instant glue can be used for smaller areas. Plastics are glued together either with instant glue, and in the case of smaller parts, Roket Max instant glue thick. When it comes to large parts, such as a large hull deck, Roket UV glue 20g can be recommended. Metal and laminate can be glued with Epoxy glues.
We recommend acrylic enamel paints for coloring. Apply colors with quality brushes (flat brushes for surfaces, round brushes for details).
If you want to assemble the Nordic as a floating RC model, it is necessary to adapt the building and choose appropriate construction procedures. Complete boat shaft, boat screw, motor, regulator, servo, RC kit, 12V battery and charger.
For the normal operation of a functional RC model ship, you need a special grease for lubricating the ship's shafts. The special composition ensures the smooth running of the shaft in the Teflon tube while maintaining the maximum service life of the components. DYNE4200, DYNE4201 greases are recommended
Special tools and tools from the Shesto company will come in handy for finishing work or routine maintenance, such as pliers, tweezers, files, screwdrivers and many others, which you can find on the website www.astramodel.cz/cz/katalog/naradi-c189.html
