Original information:
The year 1859 was written when Colonel Drake was finally able to reach the oil deposits with a borehole at a depth of 21 m in Pennsylvania. Then it took another 70 years before humanity made the first dangerous steps from the mainland below sea level. In 1927, a first offshore drilling was made in California at a depth of only 6 meters. OPEC policy has made much of the search for ocean and offshore oil exploration a bigger attraction. Today, around 380 naval oil towers are in operation around the world. In addition to the coastal areas of North and Central America, the second major offshore oil field in the North Sea was also discovered. Petroleum from the Forties Field oil field began to draw for the first time in 1975. The foundations of the North Cormorant Towers were drifting 160 km northeast of the Shetland Islands at the beginning of 1980. Before this platform was finally anchored to the seabed by 32 giant steel nails, shipyards in Cherbourg, France, overcome a record distance of 1400 km. The entire drilling platform was completed between May and August 1981 and was launched in December. Oil and gas that the platform harvests are transported to the mainland via a remote pipeline. The total area of \u200b\u200bthe platform is 4000 m2. The vast base on which the platform stands is 170 meters high and weighs 24,500 tons, so bigger than all its predecessors in the history of the North Sea mining. At the time the North Cormorant was constructed, it was home to 240 men. Today, he has a 100-member crew.
