Original information:
The development of Migu 21 was launched in 1953. The world's first public airplane was first shown at the 1961 Airlift Show in Moscow. The first sharp combat missions to which the Mig intervened took place in Vietnam in 1966 against aircraft of the US Air Force. The F-13 was a capture fighter designed for day-to-day use only and in good weather. The pilot was guided to his destination via a radio link from a ground radar station. The main weapon of this airplane was an air-to-air missile named R-3S, similar to the newly-developed Sidewinder missile. With a total of about 10,800 machines, Mig 21 was by far the most versatile fighter after World War II. Even the Major-General and the first German cosmonaut Sigmund Jähn flew during his military service with the F-13.
