Traxxas AC motor Velineon 550 4P

The trend in AC drives is uniquely directed to sensorless multipole motors. Quad-pole motors, unlike double-pole motors, have a double torque, a smoother performance and a higher efficiency. Traxxas is holding this trend, and it is now introducing four-pole AC motors with new controllers that have been optimized for use with 4-pole motors.

The four-pole Velineon 550 has a rotor made of steel sheets in which neodymium high-temperature magnets are sealed. For maximum strength, the rotor is wrapped with kevlar cloth embedded in a special resin. High-speed roller bearings are used.

Interlaced stator winding ensures smooth operation and high efficiency. The Stator is made of thin silicon alloy steel sheets for the lowest possible loss and minimal heating. Of course there is perfect dynamic balancing of the rotor.
