Characteristics

Kit of the non-floating model of the ship Mantua Endeavor in a scale of 1:60 and a length of 770 mm. The ship of the famous Captain Cook. The kit includes wooden parts, metal castings of decorations and detailed building plans.

Captain Cook discovered New Zealand in 1769 with the ship Endeavour. He charted 2,400 miles of coastline and provided evidence that New Zealand was not part of Australia. James Cook, the famous explorer from the Pacific countries, was born in 1728 as the son of a farmer. First he gained several years of experience on transport ships, then in 1775 he was in the service of the Royal British Navy, where he was promoted in a short time to the rank of "Master". The ship Endeavor was chosen for the journey on the military and scientific expedition to the South Pacific due to its solid construction. The shipbuilders had to make a number of changes to the ship to accommodate a group of astronomers and scientists on board. They sailed from Plymouth to Cape Horn, reaching their intended destination of Tahiti in April 1769. After completing his scientific research, Cook continued to New Zealand, where he remained until the end of March 1770.

The Mantua kit includes a plywood hull structure, building plans with general details in English, battens, wooden masts and spars, brass fittings, details, rig lines and a flag. All sheet metal parts are precisely laser cut.

Modeling tools and mat

Building model ships requires the right tools. We recommend an excellent set of Modelcraft tools for ship modelers (set of 12 pieces), or Modelcraft tools for modelers (set of 18 pieces). We also recommend the purchase of nylon clamps and indispensable modeling pins. We recommend a modeling mat for editing, precise cutting, gluing parts and also as table protection.
