Statenjacht is a type of ship used in the Netherlands since the 17th century to transport important government or corporate figures. These boats have a flat bottom, a rounded bow and a stern richly decorated. The cannon on board the ship was used for saluting and signaling. Boats of this type were usually 18 m to 21 m long. This particular model is a statenjacht in the service of the Dutch East India Company (VOC-Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie).
