Kit of the non-floating model MAMOLI Black Prince in 1:57 scale from 1774. A ship from the period of the War of Independence. Benjamin Franklin was ambassador to France at the time, where he acquired the Black Prince and Black Princess ships. The kit package includes wooden parts, moldings and a number of fittings, rigging, plans, etc.
During the American War of Independence of 1774-76, the colonial rebel government commissioned private ships to pursue British merchant ships and, if possible, to be of interest to them. The ships were painted black so that they were almost invisible at night. They were named Black Prince and Black Princess. The crew was Portuguese sailors, but the captain was an American. They operated on English coastal waters and for more than a year complicated contact with the rest of the world for the British merchant navy.
