Arleigh Burke is a class of US Navy guided missile destroyer equipped with the Aegis weapon system designed to defend against mid-range ballistic missiles (based on the AN / SPY-1 radar). The main role of these ships is to escort and protect the associations of heavy aircraft carriers. Destroyers are equipped for anti-tank, anti-submarine and anti-aircraft combat.
After the Spruance USS Cushing Destroyer in 2005, the Arleigh Burke class became the only class of US destroyer in active service. The class is named after the American World War II Admiral Arleigh Burke (commanded, for example, at the battle of St. George's Cape).
A total of 56 of the 63 destroyers ordered were active at the end of 2009. Later, it was decided to build other Arleigh Burke class destroyers, so the total number of ships ordered increased to 75.
Arleigh Burke class construction also includes Japanese destroyers of the Congo and Atago class and the KDX-III class KDX-III South Korean destroyers.
The model is built in a scale of 1: 100 and comes complete assembled. Laminate hull is already factory fitted with four SPEED DC motors. For easy access to electronics, the model comes with a detachable superstructure made from ABS.
Properties:
To control the model requires min. 6-channel RC set, the model can be retrofitted with other mock-up features.
